Common Sense Solutions for Health
Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is a very precise and scientific analysis tool. However, if I were to analyze you using NRT before it was explained to you, you might find it strange, or simply not believable, only because it is probably very different from anything you many have experienced before.
I can completely understand that because when I first saw this type of work being done, my first reaction was skepticism. As a result, I studied NRT extensively to see if it was for real. I am sure glad I did because it not only helped me improve my own health and my wife’s chronic health issues, but it changed the way I practice completely and allowed me to help my patients on a deeper level.
If you are serious about getting healthy and staying healthy, it is important that you understand what NRT is and what our recommendations are based on. If you don’t, you are less likely to follow through and actually do what you need to do to get well. To put it simply, if you don’t follow through, if you are not a complete partner in this process and take responsibility for the outcome, you are not going to get well. Think about it. Without your cooperation, I could be the best doctor in the world but I won’t be able to help you unless you help me help you.
The results we have been having with NRT are often in the 90% and better range. With your help and NRT we have very good odds of building your health and getting you well. So let’s get started explaining NRT.
In medical practice there are two key parts: the diagnosis (identifying and/or naming the “disease” or problem) and the treatment (drugs, surgery, etc.) With NRT we do not diagnose or treat disease, but we also have two key parts: the analysis of the overall health of the body and the personalized health improvement program, using a individually designed natural health improvement program to help your body correct what we find in our analysis.
The analysis is done through testing the body’s own neurological reflexes and various acupuncture points throughout the body. The neurological reflexes are “triggers” derived from the part of the nervous system whose job it is to regulate the functions of each and every organ (the autonomic nervous system). The acupuncture points are selected from the ancient Chinese system, in use for thousands of years in accurate analysis and treatment of the body. NRT is a study of how the different points on the surface of the body relate to the state of health and to the flow of energy in each and every organ and function of the body.
Even though most of our new patients have been referred to us by other satisfied patients, you probably want to know what Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is and what we do to get to the bottom of your concerns and recommend a protocol for building health. Please read the following before your visit, so that you will understand why what we do works. This saves us time during our visit and allows me to concentrate on your immediate issues.
Many people are nervous and preoccupied during their visit and cannot absorb everything that is being introduced to them—a new way of looking at health, new protocols and eating plans and other such information—and we find that having some of it in written form for you to absorb and review before and after works better for everyone. This way we make sure everyone gets consistent information and they get many of their questions answered even before we begin.
When I talk about energy I am talking concrete physics, not some new age “feeling”. Quantum physics teaches us that everything, everything breaks down into energy at the smallest atomic level. So, while your body may look like a solid mass of bone and skin and muscle, at the atomic level there is nothing really solid at all, just energy vibrating so fast that it actually appears to be solid. So while this may be hard to grasp, it is scientific fact, and therefore, each system and organ of your body has related “energy” or vibration levels that can be measured. Each NRT reflex represents a specific organ, tissue, or function and indicates the effect that energy or lack of energy, is having on that particular area of the body. In other words, with NRT we can locate “weaknesses” or low energy levels in various areas of the body. By testing the NRT reflexes, we have a system of monitoring your body at each visit that has proven to be extremely accurate clinically, and that helps us identify exactly what the body needs and how well we are meeting those needs with nutritional support.
By matching you with specific nutritional support products that relate to your weak areas, we can test with NRT what will be effective in raising system, organ or function levels. With NRT you are getting the specific nutrition your body needs, not some random vitamins or latest fad herb that you read about in a magazine or hear about from a health food store clerk. Doesn’t this sound like something you would want for yourself in order to predict, with certainty, what is needed and wanted by the body to get you to the next stage of improved health?
How do we access the NRT reflexes in order to get this information? If I were to hook you up to an electrocardiograph matching and take a reading of the electrical impulses of your heart, that would make perfect sense to you, right? During an electrocardiograph electrical energy from the heart (remember quantum physics) is running over the wires to the machine. This electrical energy makes the machine record the energy pattern in the form of a graph or chart. I could then study this graph and tell you what it all means and how strong or weak your heart is. With NRT, instead of connecting electrodes to the specific points being tested, the NRT doctor contacts these points with his/her own hand. With his other hand, he/she will test the muscle strength of your extended arm. If the reflex being contacted is active, (not normal) the nervous system will respond by reducing energy to the extended arm and the arm will weaken and drop. This drop indicates underlying dysfunction, which can be affecting your health.
Why is the person who referred you to us feeling better? We did a NRT analysis for the person who referred you and we found “active” reflexes, and then made specific nutritional recommendations to help the body return to a normal or strong state of health. We are prepared to do the exact same thing for you now. Isn’t that exciting? We aren’t going to give you what “everyone” needs but what your body tells us it needs.
Let’s say we do your NRT analysis and the liver or kidney reflexes are active. Then what? Our next step is to test specific, time-tested and proven, high quality, professional grade nutritional formulas against those weak areas to find which ones bring the reflexes back to strength or “inactive” status. Our years of clinical experience tell us that when we have found the correct nutritional supplements, as indicated by this procedure, and when we work out a highly personalized nutritional supplement schedule, we have accomplished the most important first step in correcting the underlying deficiency or imbalance that caused the reflex to be active in the first place. By following the program as precisely as possible, you are well on your way to restoring normal function and improving your health. It’s that simple. With NRT we are using “bio-individually designed clinical nutrition” to correct the cause of the problem, so that the body can regain it’s ability to correct itself.
First of all, “Designed Clinical Nutrition” is not over-the-counter vitamins. Most over-the-counter vitamins and supplements are pharmaceutically engineered chemical fractions of vitamin structures reproduced in a laboratory. They are not “whole food” components and the body does not actually recognize these as anything even vaguely beneficial (to put it mildly). In some cases these artificial vitamins actually rob your body of nutrients. Synthetic vitamins are not made from whole foods and therefore lack the essential synergistic elements normally present in whole foods. In other words they don’t have what Nature intended us to have when consuming nutrients.
An example of a whole food could be carrots. Carrots are high in Vitamin A Complex. A “complex” is something made up of many different parts that work together. to aid absorption. Absorption is key because it is not that you “are what you eat”, but really you “are what you absorb of what you eat.” A synthetic vitamin A does not contain the whole vitamin A complex as is found in nature, but just vitamin A isolates. Because of this, the body may not know how to process this isolate alone and simply reject it, or actually pull nutrients from your body to try and complete the isolate so it can process it. Proof of this: have you every experienced the “yellow pee” syndrome after taking vitamins from your health food store or pharmacy. An hour after taking them you have dark yellow or even orange urine that has a strong odor. That’s all your synthetic vitamins going down the drain that your body cannot absorb. All the hype around vitamins has got you to purchase some and take them, but what they don’t tell you is not all supplements are created equal, and not all of them will actually benefit you. And through NRT we learn that not all supplements are good for everyone at any given time.
Designed Clinical Nutrition, as practiced by us is exactly what is says it is: designed (especially prepared based on a specific plan), clinical (pertaining to the results gotten in clinical use or actual practice on huge numbers of patients over many years), and nutrition (real food, designed by nature to enable the body to repair itself and grow healthfully). We recommend only whole food supplements or nutraceuticals in a tablet, capsule, powder or liquid form, that are stabilized, concentrated, vacuum-packed and/or cold processed to preserve nutrients and all the active enzymes and vital components that make it work as Nature intended. These real food supplements have been designed to match the needs of the body, as determined by the positive response shown when tested against the active NRT reflexes that were found on your individual NRT analysis. These are, for the most part, nutrients you are not getting, or not assimilating in your current diet. These deficiencies may be due to your past personal eating habits and routines, but it is also due, to a large extent, to the lack of quality nutrients available in our food supply today.
Gone are the days of a local farm culture where you could get vine-ripened, nutrient rich fruits and vegetables for your table regularly. Balanced, home-cooked meals made from fresh foods are a holiday novelty rather than a daily occurrence. Over-processed foods that lack nutritional value along with “green harvest” industrial agriculture and genetically modified produce that is sorely lacking in nutrition is responsible for the overall “malnutrition” we are suffering from as a society today. A brief look at the epidemic rise in all degenerative diseases today, the explosion of auto-immune disorders, the catastrophic rise in cancer rates and the dwindling state of health of our children today are all tragic indications of how much we are actually “starving” to death.
Having been designed through decades of clinical use of tens of thousands of patients, and on clients from many different types of health care practitioners, you can be assured that NRT is capable of evaluating and solving your health concerns. However, this will not be accomplished in just one visit. NRT is a process that can be compared to opening a combination lock. You have to use the right number in the right sequence and in the right direction and the right time. If you do the lock suddenly falls open…if you don’t, you may be left spinning the dial randomly never gaining access to what you desire. NRT will reveal over a course of visits, the correct sequence for building health. This will happen in layers. On early visits the NRT testing may direct us toward working on one set of weaknesses. Once those are resolved the testing may reveal other underlying issues that can be addressed now that major or more dominant issues have been handled.
The body lets us know, through NRT, what the priority and sequence are. NRT is not a “shot-gun” approach or a “quick fix”. We do not merely suppress symptoms or bombard you…we work gently and organically with the body and it’s needs to build lasting health. So you can expect a series of visits over time will be required to solve your health puzzle and get you well. After all, you did not become unwell overnight (though many times it feels that way, and for many the first symptom they have of major disease can be death, as in heart attacks, or full blown metastatic cancer that may have been brewing for up to 20 years) and restoring health won’t happen overnight either.
We recommend that once your goals are reached you schedule regular follow-ups to re-check and maintain a program that will keep you well. It is possible to restore you health. What could be more natural? What could make any more sense? Each cell, tissue, and organ in your body is in the process of replacing itself every day, month after month, year after year. The cells, the organs, the tissues, the systems you have today, even the weak and malfunctioning ones, you are not stuck with.
If you begin to provide the body with what it needs, it will do the job it was intended to do: restore, recover, cleanse, repair. The health of each organ is dependent on making the correct nutrients available to upgrade or to maintain the health of the body at a cellular level. When people ask us “What is the most important nutrient or nutrients to take to maintain health?” we answer, “The one YOU are missing.” So, working from the inside out make perfect sense. Healthy, nourished cells, getting what they need, what’s missing, will build healthy organs, which will create healthy systems, which will translate into proper function and health. Our program of Designed Clinical Nutrition and NRT provides the right basic materials to get this job done.
Now you should have a good overview of what we do, how we do it and how it works. You should have the confidence in knowing that you do have the potential to restore your health and stay healthy. Once we determine through our analysis that you are a candidate for NRT/Designed Clinical Nutrition, you can count on us to do everything in our power to help you achieve a healthier life. You will have to be a committed, active partner in achieving this goal by taking responsibility for your compliance with the recommended protocol. We wish you the best of everything in your quest to take back full responsibility for you health. Just remember to take it one step at a time, and know that we are here to guide you along the way.
